At some point in our lives, we learn how to grow up- to stand up and say “enough”. To not let things just happen to us. To not always be okay– a necessary disruption to the schema that has always pushed one around.
Love is something that must not only happen to a person– it must be controlled. It must be calculated. If anything, it must be kept.
Strong people have found this to be true– that not everyone we want, we can have. And that love is a commitment, not just a feeling. Not just an impulse. Not just a hobby. Not just a transaction.
Strong people have found this to be true– that love must be controlled. If needed, love must be inhibited. If impossible otherwise, love must be suppressed.
–that having him is not everything, at least I’d like to believe. Anything, everything else a necessary distraction for things greater than us.
What else is there to say, but to admit.
I may love you, but until I don’t anymore, I would have to endure not having you.
–to succumb to a higher purpose. To abide still in His vine. To still heed His voice amidst it all. To let Him open my heart for the things, people He has for me.
Because strong people have found this to be true– that to love you in the process, I must continuously let you go.
