The reign of the Lord’s anointed (Psalms 2)

Reference: Psalms 2

Verses 10-11 “10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.”

The Bible. Seems like just a compilation of some cute, good words. Meant to keep us good and in order.

But it is so much more than that.

God led me today in the book of Psalms 2. It says in

Psalms 2:1-5 “1 Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us. 4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. 5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury..”

Most of us mean well, but are not mindful that we have been against the Lord.

Titus 1:16 “They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.”

We deny Jesus by the work we do. We try to justify our actions, saying it’s for the public– the common good. But, is it really for the common good if it does not honor God first? God is the standard for what is good. And we can say we love our nation, city, people if we love God first. Return back what is due to God. Honor the people.

Psalms 2, as a passage, is labeled as “The Reign of the Lord’s Anointed”. And I believe that is a prophetic foreshadowing. All through His Son, Jesus Christ. All because He is God.

…To love the Lord with all your heart. And to revere Him above all.
