How to handle pain

Everybody wants to live life pain-free. But that’s next to impossible. One way or another, we experience something that will hurt us. Sometimes, that feeling lingers on and what we feel slowly begins to run our day. Even to the point of not being able to function anymore.

There were instances over the past few years where I had to deal with pain. I remember having to push through deadlines while having a broken heart. And there were even times when it was too much for my heart to function- when I would isolate myself and try to sleep the pain off just to numb it. Only to recognize the pain once more once I woke up.

Throughout the years, I got better in handling pain. Throughout the years, I started to develop the discipline of even incorporating it in my journey– constructively utilizing it for the sake of His kingdom and my relationships.

This is not to normalize or even nurture pain for I believe it is not God’s ultimate will to have us suffer. But, I believe that whatever situation we are in, God has a way of using it for His glory– as long as we surrender them to Him. And yes, that includes handling pain. Ask God the right way of handling your pain.

Even in the process, I’m sure He’ll show you the point. Things may have to hurt now to teach you valuable lessons of the kingdom. And remember, all things will work out for your good (Romans 8:28).

So, keep on rejoicing even amidst pain.
