Things the mind forgot, but the heart refused to
Can be persistent once unearthed from deep within
This is unintentionally a letter for the subject of my prayers
This is hardly a complaint about a boy who could’ve been
But, instead, this is an entry on His orchestration
It says in Proverbs 4:25
Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.
Seems odd to be hearing such words when it is clear that i am stuck in the past. But then again, maybe this is just what i needed. To be reminded that the best is yet to come and that i did not miss anything worth missing out on.
God says in Isaiah 43:18:
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.”
Things the mind forgot, but the heart refused to
Can be persistent once unearthed from deep within
But to forget is the command, nonetheless
Not to invalidate previous experiences, I know
But to not get stuck on the things we cannot change
Not to ponder on the things that keep us from moving
“Am I just that bad at love?”
“When will it be my turn?”
“When will the stars align?”
Heartbreak upon heartbreak
I become numb from all the goodbyes
Becomes routinary once you’ve become good at it
But the pain confirms their reality
And it still hurts every time
I say goodbye not just to him, but to our future
A well thought of schema
Fantasy that was doomed from the very beginning
Yes, I tend to focus on the possibility rather than what is
And I don’t win at the end
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.”
I still remain hopeful
For some reason
For some unexplainable reason
It is in the heartbreak I find hope
For I have no other choice but to stand up
I have no other choice but to not let these frustrations defeat me
It’ll hurt, but I have to try
It’ll hurt again, but I’ll continue
For the sake of the calling, but also because I am no loser
Heal me of these parts
Time and people will pass
But I know what’s for me will not pass me
Maybe when the time is right
Maybe when my heart doesn’t just happen to fall into love
Maybe when the ball’s in my court to finally give romance a chance
Maybe then
I know I can
‘Til then
