I’m Not Your Ideal Girl

I’m not your ideal girl. I’m not 5’8. Some say I’m already too short for my body type.

I’m not your ideal girl. I am not pretty; acne scars have now devoured my face. And I’m not doing anything to stop them

I’m not your ideal girl. I walk around the city, dressed however I feel like. I am disobedient

I’m not your ideal girl. I won’t let you hold my hand during movies, nor let you cuddle me up like I’m some lost puppy. I can take my liquor.

I’m not your ideal girl. I will give you headaches and scream at you when you’re being too stubborn. I will call you out on your bullcrap. I am not easy to handle.

I’m not your ideal girl. I don’t cower from arguments; I live for them. I can go on for hours and hours and even watch debates with you if you’d consider. I don’t mind conflicts

I’m not your ideal girl. Because ideal girls can laugh and smile after being humiliated and screamed upon. They can cry to sleep and wake up like nothing ever happened . They can work all day and night and still be considerate of you. They can lose themselves in the process and even want to

But where does being an ideal girl leave you really? Isn’t it just a pat on the back of patriarchy? Look and see. And maybe you’ll truly really see. That, sometimes, to love a person means you have to set her free.

I’m not your ideal girl. But even if I was. By then, will true, faithful, lasting love ever be guaranteed?
