Bruises and wounds
I didn’t know how to stay alive
The scars you caused
Left me naked and hurting in the wild
When I say that
— the church needs to be a safe place
I want to expose that sometimes it’s not
I guess being a new creation’s
– more of an utterance
– beyond the fruition
I want to see Jesus in you
The one who forgave the sinner
The one who dined with them
The one who accepted
– the unacceptable in you
The one who stayed holy, yet true
Gossips and slanderers
That’s how I became a wanderer
The church is still growing, they say
But that does not mean they should sway
– away from the truth
– because they must emanate Christ
I guess I’ll just standby
– until I see my prayers answered
When I say that
– the church must be safe place
I try to not say it out of spite
We’re all hurting one way or another
But, the world needs to see Jesus
He’s the safest place there is
You can run to the safest place there is
