Matthew 5:14 (ESV)
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
I stare at a new toy a close person in my life has got me. And I sit there pondering about what happened– about what had transpired and the series of events that followed. I think about what I might have looked like to people– how my image had changed through the lenses of those who were not supposed to judge me nor condemn me so suddenly. Like I’m some outcast to be treated differently just because I think differently. Just because I act differently. Just because I behave differently.
I think about how the world truly is. And how life can be so unfair.
But, I also think about His Word and how it is true. And how I am still at an advantage.
When He tells you to “rock the boat”, this is what He means: that you are the light of the world. And that no light is meant to be hidden. Light is inherently forceful in shining. Light is pervasive. Light must shine.
–That rocking the boat means being different. Rocking the boat means being catalysts for positive change. And being different also means being uncomfortable, even just for a while until everything achieves equilibrium.
To see change in a world that so desperately needs it. And to bring heaven down here on earth.
You are the light of the world, dear child of God. Keep on following God. Keep on serving God. And keep on loving Him and loving people.
